Professor Catherine Birken's research focuses on two main areas: obesity prevention through primary care practice, and advancing care for children with severe obesity. She holds grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Physician Services Inc. for the PROMOTE project, which looks at early identification of preschoolers' risk for obesity and cardiometabolic factors, and a grant from CIHR for the Fit for School, Fit for Life project.
