School-Based Nutrition Graduate and Fellowship Awards

The Feeding Kids, Nourishing Minds (FKNM) School-based Nutrition Research Initiative is a four-year research project that aims to provide a comprehensive overview of school food programs in Canada and identify best practices in relation to the design, delivery and measurement of school food programs.

The Joannah & Brian Lawson Centre for Child Nutrition is pleased to announce a call for proposals for School-based Nutrition Graduate and Fellowship Awards. Funding is available to support graduate students (MSc, MPH, PhD), postdoctoral fellows and research personnel. 

Value: Up to $80,000 per year

Duration: 1 year

Application Deadline: June 14, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be a University of Toronto faculty and the project must align with one of the FKNM research tracks and research objectives identified on the application form.

Evaluation Criteria:

Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Alignment to one or more specific research tracks (10%)
  • Rigor and feasibility of proposed methods (50%)
  • Appropriate mix of relevant expertise on proposed research team (25%)
  • Well-justified, eligible research budget (15%)
  • Attention to knowledge translation, where appropriate

Application Review Process:

  • Applications will be reviewed by a small committee consisting of members of the Feeding Kids, Nourishing Minds steering committee.
